How to Restore Your Harley Davidson: Free Online Book

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

I just found this link on Google

Wow! There is a lot of intricate detail in this book including Harley part number changes over the years. Its nice to have the paper copy of these books handy when restoring your bike but this is a good online reference when restoring your vintage Harley.

Google has many more Harley repair and restoration books available online also. I’m not sure how they get away with this but its pretty handy.

We have plenty of Harley repair, restoration and modification books for sale on our site also. If you don’t see it, ask us! We can get almost any book for you.

Retrocycle Metal Finishing Services

Cadmium, Zinc, Nickel, Electroless Nickel, Copper, Parkerizing, Black Oxide, Aluminum Polishing and much more!

Did you know that some of the top restoration experts in the Antique Motorcycle Club of America (AMCA) use Retrocycle for their metal finishing?

I hear from a lot of my customers about finding a source of cad plating and parkerizing.

When I inform them that Retrocycle offers this service there are several questions that I’m asked almost without fail.

1. Is it real or is it copy cad?

Our cad plating service is performed by a government certified plating service that services mostly to military specifications.  This is the “real deal” and is actual cadmium plating (not a kit).

2. What is the turn around time?

In most cases we can turn your metal finishing order around within a week of receipt.  What this means is that we can generally have the order ready to send back to you within 7 business days from when we actually receive it at our shop.  Of course, sometimes it will take a bit longer but we pride ourselves on the quality of service and the quick turnaround that we offer.

3.  What do I have to do to prepare my order?

Generally, we like the products to be degreased but we offer media blasting as part of the service so there is no need to go crazy with the preparation.   Mostly, what we ask, is that all parts are completely disassembled.  This means that locknuts and washers must be seperated from brake rods or other component units.  If we have to extend labor to disassemble items we have to charge for this.

We also ask that you send duplicates of smaller items when possible.  For example, if you are sending a spoke set with nipples, it is a good idea to send an extra (or two) due to the off chance a small item gets lost in the process.  This has not happened to us in the past but it is an occurrence that does happen in the metal finishing industry.

4.   COST?   What will this cost me?

Cost is determined by the lot size.   Our minimum charge is $75.00.   The best approach is to e-mail or call us.  We can then direct you to either bring the parts to our shop or e-mail us pictures.  We can then quote you a price based on size of the lot to be finished.
